Welcome to Post-Apocalyptia and Our Dystopic Future!!

Come in, come in! Have a seat. This brand new blog is all about the end of the world, or at least how certain esteemed authors perceive it. Whether it's because of a failing of humanity, space aliens, the weather, or meteor collision, the world is going to end eventually. More than likely, some virus or war will break out, ravaging the human population and leaving only the dregs of our remains, and empty, broken monuments to our greatest achievements. It's been a subject of interest for more and more authors lately. Popular culture is even embracing it, idealistically considering how long they might last in a zombie-infested after-world. Whatever the reason, our impending doom is having a greater and greater impact on us from day to day, and we, as humans are wont to do, are having a grand time fantasizing about it and pretending that it doesn't scare the hell out of us.

If you are one of those people, then you've come to the right place! I count myself among those who would examine all aspects of a potential apocalypse and embrace the fact that, even if we cannot stop it, perhaps if we are mentally prepared, we can survive it. The question then becomes, is that really what we want? Do we really want to become lone wanderers in a wasteland filled with ghostly remains of what we once held dear? Do we want to sacrifice so many of the things we take for granted, all in the name of survival? Do I, personally, see myself looting abandoned supermarkets, siphoning gas from cars filled with corpses, or callously stripping bodies long dead of items I might need to complete the next leg of my undoubtedly pointless journey?

Hell yes I do.

In this blog I will review all the books, films, and other media I can get my hands on that focus on the world of post-apocalyptia. I will examine the reasons we give ourselves for the end of the world, the causes we are most able to swallow, and the effectiveness of the survival skills of those who live on. I will include among them the occasional work of our equally likely dystopian future, as a grim and nasty future is just as undesirable as no future at all.

Any and all suggestions welcome - I'll read, watch, and play it all!
